Why the Tire Color Is Black?

The earliest pneumatic tires were white

Did you know? The world’s first rubber tire was white because tires are made of rubber, which is naturally white in color. However, this white rubber tire is not ideal in terms of strength or tear resistance, it is easy to age, and it is also more expensive. After using it for a long time, the rubber will turn yellow and brown and lose its decorative effect.

Later, people in the manufacture of tires, in addition to rubber, but also added a black substance – carbon black. In this way, the tires naturally became black.

When the carbon black was combined with the rubber, the rubber became very strong. Although technically people have been able to make tires in other colors, after more than 200 years of back-and-forth experiments, people gradually accepted black, which still dominates the tire world.
